Apps I Use on iOS

What follows is a list of apps which I use and recommend for users of iOS devices, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch products.

EWTN

Allows you to listen to live TV and radio feeds of this excellent Catholic network. You can also listen or watch past shows.

Voice Dream Reader

This is my personal favorite app for reading. It allows you to read many types of files from a variety of sources, including being able to search for, download and read books from Bookshare.

BARD Mobile

Allows you to download and read books from the NLS collection.

Learning Ally

Allows for downloading and reading of audio books from the Learning Ally library.

Kindle

What more can be said about this app? If you can’t find what you’re looking for in any of the specialized libraries I’ve already recommended, the chances are that you’ll be able to find it in the Kindle Store.

TuneIn Radio

An app which allows you to listen to thousands of radio stations from across town or from across the world.

Twitterific

An excellent and highly accessible Twitter app.

BBC News

An excellent source for world news, as well as a convenient way to listen to the World Service.

LinkedIn

For all of my professional networking.

Facebook

For all of my post nine to five social needs.

Youtube

What more can be said about this app? For some, it’s the only TV they’ll ever need.

TapTapSee

For object recognition. It’s now free and still amazing. Install AIPolyvision if you need a second opinion about that mysterious object or ThirdEye if you want a third.

KNFB Reader

For turning printed material into spoken text. Download Voice for a free alternative.

Dropbox and OneDrive

Convenient and accessible cloud storage.
